Grape varietals used to make white wine grow all over the globe and come in a wide range of styles. From dry Muscadet to a full bodied and oaky Chardonnay, white wine varies in colour from pale straw to deep gold, and is often more refreshing and lighter in taste than a majority of red wines. Whites offer an abundance of fresh, primary fruit flavours like peach, pear, lemon, even lychee and also tertiary aromas like nuts and vanilla derived from the aging process. Once a bottle of white is opened it can last up to seven days but it must be corked and in the fridge. We recommend enjoying a crisp glass of white wine with halibut or shellfish (lobster ideally), and thanks to the acidity of most white wines, they are perfect for cooking and deglazing, and are an excellent accompaniment when savoring fattier foods.
