Templeton Rye was introduced legally in 2006, but it's true history dates back to the early 1900s, when citizens of Templeton, Iowa bootleg distilled a rye whiskey that quickly became one of the most renowned and sought-after spirits in the area. Templeton Rye has won several awards including a gold medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2020. Templeton Rye Sherry Oloroso comes from their line of Cask Finished American straight rye whiskeys. This limited edition is matured for six years in first-fill American oak flame charred barrels before finishing nine additional months in fine Oloroso sherry cask barrels sourced from Marco de Jerez region of Spain. This unique twist on their high-rye whiskey offers aromas with notes of cream, caramel, orange peels, figs and sultanas. The palate offers a rich, oily mouthfeel with subtle notes of tropical fruit and nuttiness layered with high-rye spice, cocoa, and nuttiness. The finish is long and creamy, balanced with a touch of Oloroso Sherry and a warm, peppery flavor.
