John Dewar & Sons was part of the creation of Aberfeldy Scotch Whiskey. Aberfeldy 12 Year Old Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky is made with from barley that was milled through the Porteus mill before being fermented and mashed in copper pot spirit stills. Aberfeldy 21 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky is made from barley and mashed with stainless copper pot stills. Aberfeldy 21 Year is then matured in bourbon casks that were used to mature sherry. This creates a toasted malt flavor of honey, baked goods, and citrus. There are notes of smoke, caramel, and creamy vanilla, as well as char. The finish is long and spicy with a slight flavor of charcoal and fruit. Aberfeldy 21 Year earned several awards. Silver Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2013. As well as Gold Medal at the International Wine & Spirits Competition in 2013. It was named the "Best Highland Single Malt Whisky" at the World Whiskies Award in 2014.
