For 75 years, Wild Turkey has been producing and manufacturing their whiskies at the top of Wild Turkey Hill in Lawrenceburg, KY. Going back as far as 1855, Wild Turkey began in wholesale grocer Austin Nichols store. This business would later own Wild Turkey, which incidentally got its name after an executive shared some of this whiskey with friends while on a wild turkey hunting trip. Currently, the son of former Master distiller Jimmy Russel, Eddie works in tandem with creative director Matthew McConaughey to craft the classic beloved bourbon. The water used in Wild Turkey comes from the Kentucky River and is naturally filtered through limestone, removing iron and any other impurities. Additionally, the yeast used in Wild Turkey comes from a perfected, original yeast strain and has been used for its signature flavor for over 60 years. Wild Turkey Masters Keep One was created to reflect the characteristics of Master Distiller Eddie Russel and his father Jimmy, also a Master Distiller. To represent his fathers passions, this bourbon is crafted from hand-selected mid-aged bourbons between nine and ten years old. To embody his own style, Eddie selected a small batch of 14 year old whiskey. The blend of these two selections came together and rested in new, specially toasted and charred oak barrels to create the unique profile of Masters Keep one. The beautiful mahogany spirit has rich aromas of dried dark fruits, caramel, oak, leather, cocoa and hints of citrus and vanilla. With a full-bodied and warm feel, the palate offers notes of orchard fruits, caramel, sweet corn, hazelnut and hints of vanilla, cinnamon and citrus.
