Calumet 16-Year Bourbon is a bold-tasting whiskey with a surprisingly well-balanced finish. It has a mashbill that includes corn, rye, and malted barley, and is aged in the finest white oak barrels. It appears in dark mahogany color, and possesses some bright citrus notes on the nose when you pop the bottle. You will get a lot of cherry, toasted nuts, and freshly baked bread notes on the palate alongside beautifully rounded caramel notes.
Calumet actually started as a horseracing company, rearing the finest Thoroughbreds in Kentucky. They only transitioned to producing bourbon in 2013, but their knowledge of the land and the lifestyle made their learning curve become very manageable. They produce in small batches to quench the thirsts of their peers and compatriots.
