Grand Leyenda is a unique tequila distillery with an uncompromising commitment to producing estate grown, certified organic tequila. Grand Leyenda originates in the year 2000 with the Santoyo family, whose deep roots in the history of Mexico secured them an enviable spot in the tequila marketplace. The family traditions of hard work and integrity were combined with two decades of spirits experience in 2013, when Grand Leyenda was sold to current CEO Derrell Spann. Derrell’s legacy of marketing spirits brands includes experience with icons like Seagram’s, Diageo, Remy Martin and more. This change of leadership has made Grand Leyenda not only one of today’s finest tequila producers but one of the few African American owned spirits companies and the only African American owned tequila producer in the United States. Each agave plant used to make Grand Leyenda tequila is grown on land that has rested for four years between plantings, and is grown without chemicals, hormones, or pesticides for up to twelve years to maximize sugar content.
