Beefeater London Dry Gin Pt 2

In the Mouth: 47/60

The Beefeater London Dry Gin flows through the mouth in a gentle way that it is slightly lower than what expectations suggest. It might be normal to be expecting your gin to be less aggressive along with the piny juniper flavor. However, it is disappointing getting the feeling that it is less than promised. One might go as far as to say that the gin is boring because it is too laidback. There is a light bitterness flowing through this spirit. Note that it does not carry sufficient amounts of rich juniper flavor in it.

When the drink is tasted you can feel the presence of citrus peel, juniper, and traces of other flavors. However, there is no real pop which could be called central to the spirit. This is one of the main reasons for the dropped score. The 47 % abv iteration might have helped remove this disadvantage, as it would have enhanced both aroma and flavor.

In order to assess the gin better, a few cocktails were made. The main one was Key Lime Gimlet. It tasted good but failed to notch over average.

In the Throat: 48/60

The exit of the drink through the throat is comparatively smooth. There is no notable thrust or energy from it. You could say that the taste of the drink is very similar to the aroma — it can almost be called boring. A drink requires more flavor and fun if it is to receive a higher score on this aspect.

The Afterburn: 45/60

Sampling and tasting the Beefeater London Dry Gin is a fun process, particularly with the numerous things regarding its mixability and flavor. One could only say that instead of the robust gin expected, the Beefeater London Dry is unattractive and boring. Clearly, the 47% abv would have been a much better option, because there is an additional 18% water added to the 47% drink to bring it down to 40%. This must be the reason why the aroma and taste got diluted rather easily, leaving a boring drink behind.

You can purchase the Beefeater London Dry Gin through many wine and spirits dealers who sell online. It comprises of numerous attractive flavors. However, due to the dilution of the 47% version to the 40% version, it lacks in flavor. Besides, it also provides minimal aroma and is overall a disappointing drink.
