Mimosa Recipes Your Brunch Party Will Love

Mimosas are every Sunday brunch’s best friend and they’re surprisingly easy to make. All it takes is freshly squeezed orange juice and dry champagne. Pour the mixture into a chilled champagne flute and suddenly your hearty homestyle bacon, eggs, sausage, and french toast with the family feels that much more classy. Sure you can always go out with your friends and pay for some watered down bottomless mimosas for 35$ or you can skip the trip and add some festive flair to a get together at home. Looking to save an extra couple bucks? Skip the champagne and go for one of your favorite sparkling wines to help keep those mimosas flowing when you have a lot of guests over.

A classic mimosa is always a recipe for a good time and needs very few ingredients, making it the perfect light and bubbly accent to any occasion or just a Sunday morning with the in-laws. Today we’re gonna be sharing some notes on making the perfect mimosa and our favorite mimosa variants from the CWS team.

The Golden Mimosa Ratio

With a recipe as deceptively simple as the Mimosa, finding the right balance to create the perfect light and bubbly drink is more difficult than it seems. Our go-to is always 1/3 juice to 2/3 champagne to create a mimosa that is not overly sweet while still letting the brightness of the juice shine through.

No one wants a watered-down mimosa so make sure to skip the ice! Make sure that your champagne is properly chilled for 3 hours before mixing and serve in a chilled champagne flute. Quality is key when you’re making drinks at home so feel free to indulge in a high-quality juice that’s pulp-free. Whether you add the juice before or after makes little difference but just try not to spill after knocking back a few of these between laughs and good company.

What are the best champagnes for Mimosas?

For every 750ml bottle of champagne or sparkling wine, you will be able to serve 6-8 mimosas. When it comes to recommendations, we suggest a dry brut like Veuve Clicquot Brut Champagne to cut through the sweetness of the juice while pairing berry and citrus notes throughout the drink.

Sparkling wine more your style? We recommend Chandon Etoile Brut Sparkling Wine or one of your favorites to give it a more personal touch for yourself and your guests.

Let’s go down the list of some of our favorite mimosa recipes:

The Classic

Sometimes you just can’t beat the original! Making a classic mimosa only takes 4 ingredients. Orange juice, brut champagne, Grand Marnier, and a dash of orange bitters for an extra citrusy kick. This tried and true recipe adds a little complexity to your mimosa while still sticking to the tried and true classic.

  1. Fill your chilled champagne flute with 1/3rd freshly squeezed orange juice.
  2. Top the rest of your flute up with your brut champagne.
  3. Give it a sweet kick with a teaspoon of Grand Marnier Liqueur.
  4. Add a dash of orange bitters and enjoy!

With this recipe, you get the full mimosa experience with just a little more of a twist from what you’d get at an all you can eat Sunday restaurant brunch.

Pineapple Mimosa

Sometimes just orange juice isn’t enough so we’ve added a recipe that gives your mimosa a more tropical flavor that’s perfect any time of the year. For those looking for a refreshing change to the classic recipe and an added kick, we’ve included the pineapple mimosa!

All you’ll need is ½ ounce of lemon juice, ½ ounce of orange juice, a drizzle of honey syrup, 2 ounces of sparkling wine, and 1 ounce of Ciroc Pineapple vodka.

  1. Pour 1 ounce of Ciroc pineapple vodka into your champagne flute.
  2. Add ½ ounce of freshly squeezed lemon juice and ½ ounce of orange juice to your drink.
  3. Add a small drizzle of honey syrup, or forego this step if you like your mimosas a little less sweet.
  4. Fill the rest of your champagne flute with your favorite sparkling wine. We suggest a Prosecco for this recipe.
  5. Garnish with an orange peel and throw in a fresh strawberry or two for some added color and enjoy!

Tequila Sunrise Mimosa

For a colorful mimosa that plays on the classic Tequila Sunrise, this recipe only takes a few minutes to whip up and is sure to impress with only a few ingredients needed. This recipe calls for tequila rather than sparkling wine so make sure that your family is ready to handle this when you bring it out! If you’re still missing that bubbly though try adding some sparkling water to your drink for some added fizz.

A Tequila Sunrise Mimosa calls for 3 parts juice to 1 part tequila and ¼ of grenadine. You can make this in a big pitcher to serve up quickly and top each flute with grenadine after pouring to get the picturesque sunrise color.

  1. Pour 1 ½ cups of orange juice and 1 ½ cups of pineapple juice into a pitcher.
  2. Pour 1 cup of silver tequila into your pitcher.
  3. Stir your mix before pouring into chilled champagne flutes and topping with some sparkling water.
  4. Carefully drizzle grenadine over your drink and let the syrup settle at the bottom of your flute.
  5. Enjoy!
